It comprises a set of sequential support activities, from designing and installing a battery system, through maintenance that maximizes battery life and detects weaknesses before they become failures, to replacement and safe, legal disposal of faulty or spent units.
Advanced Battery System Design
It is possible to design battery systems using multiple strings of batteries with appropriately sized fuses and transition boxes to remove potential single points of failure. Replacement battery systems are typically designed for the same autonomy as the originals they are replacing, without consideration of the actual load of the UPS system. However they can be optimised to suit the actual load for either less or more autonomy on customer request.
Battery enclosure customization is also available, using open battery racks, cladded stands or dedicated battery cabinets.
Battery Maintenance Service
The maintenance service offered by Uninterruptible Power Supplies Ltd, offers two benefits : -

The service includes battery cleaning, inspecting the physical condition of batteries, terminals and connections, checking the open circuit battery and UPS float voltages, re-torquing the intercell connections and battery impedance testing.
Our battery impedance testing service offers a means of assessing batteries' internal conditions. Almost any battery problem will lead to an increase of internal impedance. Battery condition can be tracked by recording impedance at regular intervals, enabling accurate prediction of impending faults and the end of useful working life.
Battery Disposal Service
Lead batteries are classified as hazardous waste under current legislation and the UPS owner as originator of the waste is responsible for the safe handling, transportation and disposal of the old batteries. Uninterruptible Power Supplies Ltd. can arrange for their transportation from site, "Environment Agency site specific registration" where necessary and subsequent safe disposal of the old batteries in accordance with current legislation.
