Domestic & General is one of the UK's leading providers of domestic breakdown cover. As part of a refurbishment project at the company's communications centre in Nottingham the company is expanding into 3200sq.m of office space on five floors of the building. This will accommodate call centre advisers who will require totally reliable access to computer and communication services. Uninterruptible Power Supplies Limited (UPSL) was chosen to provide their PowerWAVE 5000 UPS range comprising of three 40kVA UPS units.

Spectrum, the consultants responsible for selecting a power protection solution for Domestic and General were confident that PowerWAVE offered the best technology available on the market for parallel redundancy systems to give fail-safe power protection.

Domestic & General required 80kVA output from its protection system and was looking for parallel redundancy as a 'belt and braces' solution. Michael Costello, from Spectrum commented; "It was clear that to achieve redundancy with three 40kVA UPS in a 2+1 parallel configuration was a neater, more commercially viable solution than to instal two 80kVA UPSs. The lower implementation costs, together with the substantial energy cost savings which result from PowerWAVE's outstanding efficiency, also weighed heavily in the decision."
