As a gold sponsor at Datacenter Dynamics London, UPSL exhibited at DCD Converged's new home, ICC ExCel London. UPSL was proud to preview the forthcoming extension to the free-standing three-phase PowerWAVE 6000. The new 400kVA and 500kVA models will be available with a capacity of up to 5 megawatts early 2012. In addition, the flagship PowerWAVE 9000DPA & the 8000DPA were on display.
This year during the speaker slot, Mike Elms presented with Conleth McCallan, Managing Director of Datanet. The presentation focused on 'The modular UPS approach to building a data centre'.
Presentation Synopsis:
Across the data centre industry, many of the challenges faced are universal. Energy prices continue to rise and matching capacity to the scale of future growth remains difficult to predict. In turn, this generates a critical requirement to keep both capital and operational expenditure under tight control and an urgent need for a flexible approach to capacity demands.
Power protection represents a significant proportion of a data centre’s energy costs and can produce significant emissions, however, choosing the right solution, tailored to your needs, can have a dramatic impact on capital and operating expenditure, both now and in the future.
Using practical examples, Conleth McCallan, Managing Director for hosting and connectivity provider Datanet, will demonstrate how he helped meet these challenges through the implementation of a modular UPS system and why small to medium sized data centre providers can benefit most in times of strong growth.
