‘Using primary research to understand the motivating factors for investment in IT equipment, whilst identifying the design elements that guarantee reliability in a modern UPS system and how to ensure users receive a true power protection strategy, not simply a piece of hardware.’
The presentation will centre around the results of a recent industry survey; revealing users’ experience of the UK power grid, and how this shapes their expectations of power protection systems.
The survey found that over 75% of the respondents reported that their power protection system was called on to protect critical equipment during a power outage within the last 12 months, with users expecting this situation to deteriorate further in coming years.
Not surprisingly therefore, 86% regarded product reliability as the most important feature in a UPS. However the survey also revealed users’ understanding that true power protection takes more than just the UPS hardware. Over 72% ranked quality of service as ‘highly important’ or ‘important’, while over 90% agreed that maintenance and emergency callout support is as important to their business as the hardware itself.
Using analysis gained from this primary research, the presentation explains the reasons behind the responses and takes a forward view on what’s to come in the industry. The presentation addresses the design elements that ensure the highest levels of energy efficiency and reliability in a modern UPS system and looks at how you should review your UPS suppliers’ quality of service, maintenance and emergency callout support to qualify that they’re offering a protection strategy rather than just a hardware product.
