PowerWAVE 5000 SeriesFull specification PowerWAVE 5000 is a three phase uninterruptible power supply specifically designed to meet the requirements of data processing, telecommunications, and industrial applications.
The evolution of transformerless UPS design has progressively raised the upper limits of available output power. Now it is possible to achieve 300kVA output per UPS module. No comparable UPS system on the market can compete in terms of ease of implementation, high energy output, lowest lifetime costs and smallest physical size, while the PowerWAVE 5000 assures the highest availability of protected load. Ideal for - IT servers, communications and process control equipment
- Locations where the mains power is of variable quality
- Applications where a small footprint is essential
- Applications where extended battery autonomy is desirable
Capacity - Outputs per module from 60-300kVA
Technology - Three phase input and output
- Redundant critical circuits for exceptional reliability
- Simple, on-site upgrade for added capacity or redundancy
- Up to 97% efficiency in true on-line operation
- Substantial space saving in comparison with transformer-based UPS
- Supports blade servers
- Supports leading power factors
Key Features - Parallel redundant operation provides the highest level of system availability.
- Stand-alone or in a parallel redundant, multi-module system, PowerWAVE 5000 offers the highest load availability by ensuring redundancy of all the critical components and circuitry within the UPS itself.
- PowerWAVE 5000 has been designed to negate single points of failure and therefore offers exceptional reliability and availability under all circumstances.
- Extended autonomies
- Remote signal panel
- Wavemon auto-shutdown software
- SNMP (network management) plug-in adaptor card
- External maintenance bypass switch
- Battery charger temperature compensation
- Single or dual cable input
- Input current THD filter < 5%
Packaging The PowerWAVE 5000 is available in a choice of cabinet sizes. These aesthetically pleasing, small footprint tower cabinets obviate the need for any third party enclosures. The choice of cabinet is mainly dictated by the battery autonomy required. For longer than standard autonomies, custom battery frames can be designed and installed. PowerWAVE 5000 UPS modules can be operated in ‘stand-alone’ configuration or can be easily linked together to provide additional capacity or N+n (N+1, N+2 etc.) parallel redundancy as the requirements of the critical load change. An unlimited number of PowerWAVE 5000 modules can be connected in parallel using PowerWAVE’s Decentralised Parallel Architecture, so there is no limit to the size of power protection system that can be implemented. PowerWAVE 5000 UPS systems can grow as the load grows. Battery autonomy and management The PowerWAVE 5000 provides extensive battery autonomy in a small footprint, which is reinforced by longer autonomy options and comprehensive battery management features. - Autonomies to over two hours with internal batteries, maintaining aesthetic appearance and minimising footprint
- Customised UPS and battery frames for longer autonomies
- Battery charger ripple of <1% to maximise battery life
- Automatic and adjustable period battery testing to identify problems before they cause failures
Freedom to tailor the battery installation to the requirements of the critical load allows each battery configuration to match the required autonomy at the lowest cost, whilst a ripple-free battery charger helps to extend battery life. Efficient power protection for your critical load PowerWAVE 5000 offers unbeatable true on-line, double-conversion efficiency – up to 97%. This market leading on-line efficiency limits the requirement for air conditioning and thereby helps reduce energy costs by as much as 60% in comparison with transformer-based UPS systems – a truly eco-friendly solution to power security problems. The PowerWAVE 5000 is designed to power all types of electrical loads, including blade servers. It can provide fully rated output power to power factors in the range of 0.9 leading to 0.8 lagging. - Wide input voltage window (-40% for loads less than 60%) for high availability with minimum battery usage
- Wide input frequency window (35 to 70Hz) for high availability with minimum battery usage
- Static voltage stability of ±1%
- Output voltage distortion with linear load is ±1%
- Overload capacity of 125% for 10 minutes or 150% for one minute
- Dual input feed ability to support mains supply redundancy
- Static bypass switch giving system redundancy
Flexible communications options for local and remote monitoring and control The PowerWAVE 5000 series accommodates easy user interaction, with both a local user interface and remote communications features. This permits integration into enterprise wide monitoring and management strategies. - Power Management Display (PMD) providing local indication of UPS status and facilitating UPS start up, shut down and alarm acknowledgement
- Dry Port (Volt free contacts) for remote signalling and managed computer shutdown
- RS232 serial Smart Port for monitoring and integration into management networks
- Optional remote signal panel (RSP) for UPS status indication
- Optional SNMP card/adapter for network management and remote monitoring
- Wavemon software for automatic shutdown and monitoring
